Mara Vogel

Backend engineer. Writes about the boring parts of shipping software: schemas, build pipelines, and the cost of clever abstractions.

Background

Mara has spent about a decade on backend systems, mostly in places where the database outlived three generations of the application in front of it. That experience shows up in a persistent bias toward boring, inspectable data and against frameworks that own your content.

What she writes about here

  • Schema design, and why the constraint you skip is the one that bites
  • Build pipelines, static sites, and content that survives its CMS
  • The recurring trade between authoring convenience and portability

Elsewhere

Occasionally on conference stages, reluctantly. Mostly in pull request comments.
